The Easter message was printed on four sheets, one for each gospel, along with this: Who am I? Read the various Easter gospel narratives. How do you react to the resurrection? Are you like Peter, who ran desperately to the tomb, saw the evidence, but was confused? Despite evidence of God’s love and power, do you still feel confused? Do not fear — God will come to reveal himself to you. Are you like John, who was beat Peter to the tomb, but was hesitant to enter (maybe afraid of what he would find)? Are you afraid to search for God, scared of what you might find? John lay aside his fear, walked in, saw and believed. Are you like the other disciples, who when told of the empty tomb, dismissed it as rubbish? Do you sometimes dismiss the testimony of God in other people’s lives because it does not make sense? Are you so bound in the anxieties and grieving of life that you will not accept the power of God? Ask God for a soft heart, and for the gift of faith. Are you like Mary, whose experience with God is deeply emotional — filled with fear, joy and sorrow? Jesus is with you. And Jesus will use you to proclaim his living presence to others. As you taste the bread, and are refreshed with drinks, sit down and chat about what the resurrection means to you. |
