Peter was both the weakest and strongest among the apostles. Our exploration into his life was broad and multi-faceted. As we walked through his life, we stepped into a coracle and dared to step out onto the sea. We looked up the meanings of our names and wrote them upon stones. Our tendency toward denial was challenged as we were reminded of the persecuted church. We confronted the storm, and studied a moving painting of Jesus washing Peter's feet. The centre point was the dias area, which had been covered in plastic and sand - a virtual beach. It was here that we celebrated the Eucharist later in the evening as we remembered the breakfast on the beach. From there we continued to a very moving short video on the "Quo Vadis?" legend, projections of animals, Peter's sermon in PowerPoint from atop the old pulpit, a prison cell... The most humourous, but possibly most profound, was a portrayal of Peter's letters. Excerpts from them had been recreated as modern correspondence - postcards from Caesarea and Rome, a wedding card, round-robin letter, etc. Really excellent!
