The beginning! The first Up was an exciting evening, with stations depicting each of the days of creation. The final day of rest was celebrated in the central point of the church, where the dais normally is placed. This is the scene used as the backdrop for the first page of this site.

The dais was moved out of the way, and a short table with bread and wine set up. Around it were soft cushions and beanbag chairs. Everyone was encouraged to sit, meditate, and celebrate the Eucharist either alone or with others. It was to set the tone for future Ups and is still a precious memory for many of us.

Resources

Welcome to Up is the original sheet of information distributed at the first night.

Nothing into something new was a meditation that was read aloud at the beginning of the evening and again later.

The Dream was a poem written to signify the first moment of creation.

Land was a meditation to accompany a collection of stones.

Beginnings was another piece used to stimulate thought and worship.
